Vulnerable objects

What do we see on the risk map?

Vulnerable objects are buildings that may have large numbers of occupants/visitors, and buildings occupied by people who are incapable of helping themselves (patients, the elderly, children). The map shows, for instance, day nurseries, primary schools, hospitals, hotels with more than 10 beds or buildings with more than 25 floors.

What is the risk?

Vulnerable objects are on the risk map because they require extra attention if something goes wrong. That is why vulnerable objects are preferably located at a distance from risk sources. Very tall buildings present a special risk in the case of fire or collapse. For these buildings, municipalities have a special focus on fire safety, construction, location and accessibility should something go wrong.
